The use of needles is common in each of these seemingly dissimilar art styles. But that’s over. The tattoo scene has blended with embroidery, a traditional craft that you are more likely to associate with your grandma, to produce lovely, folk-inspired designs that are both original and conventional.
The outcomes are self-evident. Rich, textured patterns ‘jump’ out at you with an almost 3D appearance, giving the impression that the ink has been sewed into the skin. Several designs feature a number of tiny x’s coming together to make a larger image. This is a modern interpretation of an age-old technique.
