Sometimes tragic things occur over which we have no control. It would have been a typical day for the police officer and his faithful horse, but something unexpected occurred, and the horse’s life was brought to an end. The affection and bond that exists between a horse and its rider are deep. Their relationship was nicely captured in the photographs. Until the end, he was a true friend.
The horse became terrified and raced right into the middle of the roadway, where it was hit by the vehicle. Officer Herrejon was shocked and fell off her back. However, it was too late for the police to interfere. In the aftermath of the accident, Officer D. Herrejon is seen lying next to Charlotte, the injured horse.
The horse sadly crashed with a cement vehicle, fracturing her hind legs, had sustained other serious injuries, and died immediately. Charlotte was in the middle of the roadway, taking her final breaths. It was too late to help his beloved horse, so he knelt down and wrapped his arms over her neck, lying on his back on hers, and comforted her. The Cop was not severely hurt, so did everything he could to console his dying companion in the final moment but the grief of death takes time to heal for him. We must appreciate this officer’s courage because, as you know, being with an animal as they take their last breath is a painful and difficult thing to do.
After a heart-breaking photo of the aftermath of a traffic accident involving a police officer on horseback went viral, the nation was gripped. The lovely horse was a reliable companion. They both worked for the Houston Police Department and had been friends for almost four years. Officers Charlotte and D.Herrejon were both patrolling the city’s streets when something awful happened. Officer Herrejon was heartbroken and couldn’t believe what he was seeing with his own eyes as to what had happened to his beloved eyes.
It was a terrible moment because the two had such a strong bond. Charlotte was a police enforcement horse and will be much missed by the police department too. She was a lovely, passionate, and devoted companion. Losing a partner in the line of duty is always painful, whether that companion is a person, a horse, a dog, or another animal. The relationship between animals and humans is an incredible thing.
